Sometime around 10.30 am.
(Me and Hakim are about to leave in a bit for Delhi: to attend this Advaita Concert (read: excuse to get out) and be back the next morning (after traveling back by night))
We are getting a little high, and listening to this surreal song from the OST of the movie 'The Beach' (btw, did you know it was directed by Danny Boyle?) called 'Beached': trance song...and Leonardo's voice goes...
...mine is a generation that circles the globe
in search of something we haven't tried before
so never refuse an invitation
never resist the unfamiliar
never fail to be polite
and never outstay your welcome
just keep your mind open and
suck in the experience...
We are both smiling, when I suddenly realize it:
Me: Hakim saale, chopre ku bulaya???
Hakim: Oh ******, bhool gaye!! Boht gaaliyan nikalega!!
Me: Ab kya karein??
Hakim: Hmmm, bulate hain, shayad aa hi jaaye.
Me: Hmmm (handing over phone)
...
Hakim (on phone): Chopre, Dilli ja rahe hain. Advaita Concert hai. Chalega?
Chopra: Haan. (we surprised: Chopre's appetite for the crazy is sometimes mindboggling: no questions asked)
Hakim: Aa ja fir. Nikal rahe hain aadhe ghante main.
Chopra: Theek hai.
...
Me and Hakim look at each other: Man, this- only Chopra can do.
Just as we were thinking this was too surreal to be true, Chopra calls, and we say to ourselves- ya, too surreal to be true. Of course he has questions.
Chopra (over phone): Yaar, paise kitne laun?
Hakim: Dekh le, entry to free hai. Baaki...
Chopra: Bas entry free hai na?
Hakim: Haan.

Sometime around 11.30 am.
We reach bus stand by a CTU bus.
Pretty uneventful bus journey ensues.
Sunday, March 8, 2009
Sometime around 4.45 pm.
Bus has entered Delhi and going to ISBT.
Me (to myself, not out loud): Delhi is always so fascinating.
Hakim: Yaar, hum sach main Dilli aa gaye! Concert lagane!
Chopra (laughing, and thinking): Haan!
Hakim: Yahin utar jaate hain. Aur ye jo bahar park hai, wahan baithate hain aadha ghanta aur chalte hain Chandigarh waapis.
Chopra : (laughs)
Me: Nai yaar, ab aa to gaye hain!
Chopra: Concert na bhi lagayein, Dilli to ghoomenge.
Hakim: Haan, this sounds better.
Me: Yaar, accha hoga concert. Pehle C.P. ghoom lenge, fir chalenge but concert.
Hakim, Chopra: (laughing mirthfully) Haan, dekhte hain.

The story of the Chance (Seemingly, too much chance) Roadie Encounters.
Okay, so this is the deal: Roadie is going to Delhi the same day as us, for his XLRI Interview happens in Delhi the next day. Yes yes, for all of you didn't know about his interview, wish him well in hindsight.
And. We meet him 2 times by coincidence! A lot of coincidence. Come on! It is. Once, at Panipat Bus Depot, and second, at McDonald's at Delhi ISBT: Kahsmere Gate Metro Station.

Sometime around 6 pm.
C.P. : Cool Place. Nice crowd. But seriously, what's the thing with so many gay guys there?
Okay, now: I have had a dili tamanna to one day have beer in C.P.
But, what do we end up doing?
Stand in a line at Keventer's for milk shakes. Seriously. Thank God they had other flavors than strawberry. But, seriously: nice milk shake :). And nice eye candy around too.
Now, we have had our milk shakes and now walking around C.P. to still maybe satisfy my tamanna for beer. And we can't find a bar. So, we ask these guys: and they suggest 'Rodeo'.
So, Rodeo it is:

Sometime around 6.30 pm.
In the Metro towards Central Secretariat Metro Station from where we will take an auto to the India Habitat Center (IHC) on Lodhi Road.
Me: Yaar, Metro cool hai yaar.
Hakim: Yaar, Metro cool hai yaar.
Chopra: Yaar, Metro cool hai yaar.
Sunday, March 8, 2009
7 pm.
We walk into IHC. Concert's starting half an hour late :) to our delight.
We reach the amphitheatre, take our positions behind the crowd and - it begins.
FANTASTIC Music, FANTASTIC Concert. For those of you who haven't listened to them, do. Some of their songs are on MySpace. Their website: advaitaonline.net . The concert was a launch event for their first album.
2 great hours.
And towards the end of it, as a group of foreigners standing beside us set out to roll a joint, Hakim: "ye to heaven hai yaar, music hai, bandiyan hain, joint hai." :D
From the concert:

Sunday, March 8, 2009, 11 pm - Monday, March 9, 2009, 3 am
Crazy crazy bus ride in a Haryana Roadways Bus back to Chandigarh. Speed freak driver. He apparently got a high out of driving that crazy. Obviously, no sleep for us- we were anyways sitting just above the rear tire on the second last seats. Add to that the live entertainment from the half-the-bus-was-drunk-guys. One of them keeps singing clammy hindi songs throughout the journey, the one sitting next to him calls him 'Sonu Nigam ki aulaad'. We, btw, before you cast any apsersions, were entirely sober.
Bus reaches Chandigarh in record time of 4 hours. Bus driver, in line with his crazy behavior, arbitrarily decides that bus won't go to 17 Bus Stand at all, and will go to the 43 ISBT. Okay, so I am pissed at this.
Sunday, March 9, 2009 3 am.
Then, we get off at the Bus Stand. And me and Chopra say to each other: Yaar, walk kar ke chalte hain college!!
Me and Chopra have excited, musketeer faces on. Hakim, on the other hand, expectedly, isn't amused, and says, 'Nahin.'
So, me and Chopra say to each other: 'Iske paas paise to hai nahin, aayega to hamare saath hi.'
And, so a reluactant Hakim, and 2 other merry mechanchis walk to PEC from sec 43 at 3 am in the morning :D
An auto stops by, and the guy asks: 'Chalna hai saab?'
Chopra: 'Nai, morning walk pe nikale hain.' (3 big smiles flashed.) Guy is creeped, leaves quickly.
Pics from the walk:
